Safeguard your Smart Pass PIN

Never share your banking PIN with anyone including your Smart Pass PIN. It's a good security practice to change these PINs every few months. 

If you've forgotten your Smart Pass PIN, or just need to change it, you can do it in a few simple steps outlined below.

Should you change or reset your PIN?

You should change your Smart Pass PIN if you have security concerns or if someone else has had access to it. To change your PIN, you need to know the old one. If you don’t know your old PIN, reset the PIN instead.

How to change your Smart Pass PIN

Change your PIN if you know your old PIN. Otherwise, reset it. You could also choose one of the options below:

Through Profile and Settings

  • Log in to Mobile Banking
  • Tap  on the top left corner of the app
  • Tap Security and under Smart Pass, tap Set a new PIN
  • Enter your current Smart Pass PIN
  • Set and re-enter your new Smart Pass PIN

Your PIN will be changed instantly.

 

Through Services

  • Log in to Mobile Banking
  • Tapon the bottom of the app
  • Tap Apply for New Service > Profile > Change Smart Pass PIN > Set a new PIN or search ‘pin’ and select it from your search results
  • Enter your current Smart Pass PIN
  • Set and re-enter your new Smart Pass PIN

Your PIN will be changed instantly.

 

How to reset your Smart Pass PIN

If you’ve forgotten your Smart Pass PIN, here are the steps to reset it. 

There are two ways to reset your Smart Pass PIN:

Through Profile and Settings

  • Log in to Mobile Banking
  • Tap on the top left corner of the app
  • Tap Security and under Smart Pass, tap Set a new PIN
  • Tap Forgot Smart Pass Pin >>
  • Verify your email by clicking on the link sent to your registered email address > Next
  • Enter the authorization code sent to your registered mobile number > Next
  • Enter and confirm your new Smart Pass PIN
  • Follow the instructions and tap Call Emirates NBD. Make sure to have your card number available with you when prompted on the call

You will receive a message that your Smart Pass PIN has been activated.

 

Through Services

  • Log in to Mobile Banking
  • Tapon the bottom of the app
  • Tap Apply for New Service > Profile > Change Smart Pass PIN > Set a new PIN
  • Tap Forgot Smart Pass Pin >>
  • Verify your email by clicking on the link sent to your registered email address > Next
  • Enter the authorization code sent to your registered mobile number > Next
  • Enter and confirm your new Smart Pass PIN
  • Follow the instructions and tap Call Emirates NBD. Make sure to have your card number available with you when prompted on the call.

You will receive a message that your Smart Pass PIN has been activated.

 

FAQs

Your authorisation code will be valid for 15 minutes after which you'll need to reset it.
Smart Pass can be activated only on one device. You can do transactions from other devices, but you have to authorise those transactions by generating a Smart Pass token or push notification on the device which has Smart Pass on it.

If your phone is lost or stolen, you should deactivate your Smart Pass immediately by activating it on another device, or call us on +971 600 54 0000 and when prompted, say ‘deactivate Smart Pass’.
