Blocking your card

If your credit or debit card is lost or stolen, block it and request a replacement, or temporarily block it

Temporary lock or permanent block?

Whether you should lock your card temporarily and unblock it later, or permanently block and replace your card, depends on the situation.

If you can’t find your card, it’s best that you put a temporary lock on it immediately until you find it. This will protect your card until you can unblock it. You can temporarily lock and unlock your card in a few easy steps using Online Banking or Mobile Banking.

Temporary locking your card will stop the below transactions:

  • Online and in-store shopping
  • Cash withdrawals
  • Card Contactless payments
  • Wallet based payments (Apple Pay, Google pay etc.)
  • All debit and credit card subscriptions

But if your card is lost, or if you suspect it has been compromised, you should permanently block it immediately and ask for a replacement.

Permanently blocking your card under Lost/Stolen will stop the below transactions:

  • Online and in-store shopping
  • Cash withdrawals
  • Contactless payments using physical card
  • Temporarily suspend Wallet based payments (Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay etc.). Once the replacement card is activated, wallet-based payments will get resumed
  • All debit and credit card subscriptions

If you suspect that the card details are compromised or suspected wallet is created, then the card should be blocked under “FRAUD”. This will ensure all transactions on the card/wallets are stopped.

Blocking your card won’t stop these transactions:

  • Standing orders and direct debits from your account
  • Auto debits to your credit card
