Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the region, in partnership with The Economist held its inaugural Emirates NBD Leadership Summit on 11 December 2018 at Jumeirah Mina A 'Salam, Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai.

Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the region, in partnership with The Economist held its inaugural Emirates NBD Leadership Summit on 11 December 2018 at Jumeirah Mina A ‘Salam, Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai.

The event was graced by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, joined by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Emirates NBD, Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim, the bank’s Vice-Chairman and Managing Director; Members of the Board; Shayne Nelson, the bank’s Group Chief Executive Officer along with other senior Emirates NBD officials and dignitaries.

The event brought together decision-makers and industry leaders to discuss the forces that are shaping the Middle East and exchange insights into how the region is changing and where they see the best opportunities to expand their economies and businesses.

The summit featured keynote speeches from Dr. Raghuram Rajan, the Katherine Dusak Miller Distinguished Service Professor of Finance at the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, as well as Marc Randolph, Netflix Co-Founder.

Strategy sessions at the event discussed the transformation underway in Middle Eastern economies against a changing geopolitical landscape, and what economies in the region should be doing to compete in the digital realm. Speakers and guests exchanged insight into which industries offer the greatest opportunities for business expansion and growth, and what the leaders of today need to understand about technologies, data and AI. The event also acknowledged the wise, visionary and inspiring leadership of Highnesses Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE Ruler of Dubai and their Highnesses members of the Supreme Council of UAE and the UAE government.
