In his speech, at the much awaited, in-person meet conducted from 30 April - 1 May at the Emirates NBD Group Head Office in Dubai, Shayne highlighted the Bank’s overall vision, priorities, growth trajectory and expectations from Compliance as a trusted partner of Business and a key support function of the Bank. Victor Matafonov, Group Chief Compliance Officer, covered in detail, Group Compliance’s specific objectives, milestones, and focus areas for 2024, aligned with the Bank’s strategy.

Aptly termed Compliance University, aiming to engage, educate and inspire, the conference provided a platform for thought provoking discussions, exchange of ideas and solution seeking for challenges faced by local and international teams, as well as an open forum for the delegates to put burning questions to senior management, including the Group CEO. Through an exciting line-up of presentations, Q&A sessions, workshops, a gamified quiz, team building and networking activities, a broad spectrum of significant and topical Compliance issues were covered. Key themes centered around harnessing new technologies especially AI and GenAI, advanced data analytics, increasingly complex regulatory landscape, and developing the Compliance workforce of the future.

Compliance University, attended by Senior Compliance members, Heads of Compliance for international branches/ entities, Business and Governance stakeholders as well as UAE Nationals in Compliance, culminated with a visit to the Bank’s iconic Pearl Museum, a befitting reminder of the heritage and history of the UAE and of Emirates NBD.
