Dubai, 2 November, 2017: Emirates NBD, one of the leading banking groups in the region, observed UAE Flag Day with staff ceremonies at its Deira headquarters and Meydan office.

A leading and longstanding player in the UAE banking industry, the bank has also announced plans to mark Flag Day and the month long period leading up to UAE National day with the launch of an Oath Renewal campaign via Snapchat, supported by the bank’s online and offline media platforms. The bank has created a creative Snapchat National lens to let UAE residents renew their oath. Residents can scan a unique Snapchat code to unlock the lens and select a male or female profile in traditional Emirati attire to personalise their experience. The lens then lets users renew their oath by teleprompting the oath text.

Emirates NBD’s Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim was the first to renew his oath. Speaking on the sidelines of the bank’s Flag Day ceremony, Al Qassim said, “As the UAE’s leading bank we are delighted to offer UAE residents a creative and engaging way to celebrate national pride. Our initiatives are aimed at fostering the spirit of unity and solidarity in the country, using platforms such as Snapchat that are popular amongst millennial nationals.”

In the run up to UAE National Day, the bank is also launching a series of creative ‘national pride’ geo-filters and lenses. In addition, the bank will organise several community and staff activities, including the Emirates NBD Unity Run, volunteering initiatives and a staff festival in the month of November.
